Practice what you preach.

Citrine Hair + Skin is an intricately decorated salon that gives off a sense of warmth and comfort from the moment you walk in the door. They are located in Franklinton, an up-and-coming art district.

Meghann and Lizzy, the owners of Citrine Hair + Skin, have years of experience working together. From working together at a commission salon, to renting a space together at salon lofts, they knew when they had found the right balance to open their own salon. Wanting a team atmosphere, Meghann and Lizzy began figuring out the details of their salon. Together they created a space that is easily promoted by word of mouth, builds culture and community, and welcomes stylists who are passionate and excited to learn. To show their support for their stylists, they offer a 401K match. How cool!

Do you believe in fate? Their salon name came from an acquaintance Lizzy had met at a get-together who had overheard Lizzy talking about looking for a salon name that fit their vibe, at which point she asked permission to think of some names for them. Soon after, they received an email, and one of the name suggestions was Citrine. Citrine is a gemstone that is known for bringing an abundance of joy, warmth, fortune and happiness. It was perfect. As things started falling into place, another friend offered to create their logo - which is two of the gemstones leaning on each other, like the two of them leaning on each other. As if that is not crazy enough, Meghann who was pregnant at the time gave birth to a beautiful baby boy whose birthstone is Citrine.

Fun fact: Each client who purchases products receives a mini gemstone, branded stickers, and an explanation behind the meaning! Talk about marketing - clients have begun collecting them!

Citrine Hair + Skin is a Davines salon that truly exemplifies their passion forthe environment. They chose Davines because it is B-Corp and aligns with their values. They also participate in Green Circle and have taken recycling to the next level. Upon entering their salon, you will notice that there is not one trash can - this has created an opportunity for their clients to get involved with recycling. In addition to getting clients involved, their entire building now participates in recycling talk about practicing what you preach! In addition to recycling habits, they use reusable hand towels and cloths for their Swiffer.

A message to your younger self:

Meghann: The hard work is always worth it - you can build your dream.

Lizzy: Keep your eyes open during downtime because anything can be a class. Don’t be scared to rely on someone else.
