Earth Day 2020 : Lets Celebrate

Happy Earth Day ManocoBlue Family! Here are some (stay-at-home safe) ways that you can celebrate! Let us know how you celebrate by tagging us on Facebook or Instagram!

  1. Spend some time learning about how you can become a Green Circle Salon

We all have a little time on our hands right now, learning more about how you can help make your salon more sustainable is the PERFECT earth day activity.

Did you know that our industry is one of the leading contributors to landfill waste? Yeah, not very ‘pretty’. According to the Green circle Website, “North American salons generate over 877 pounds of waste per minute without any way to recycle - that’s 421,000 pounds per day heading to landfills.”

Green Circle Salons partners with salons to help them become more sustainable. They do this by providing specialized recycling services for the tricky items that we produce in our salons! These items include items such as Foils, Color tubes and caps even HAIR (and SO MUCH MORE). Green Circles is devoted to inspiring salons to have a greater purpose, to support a healthy planet, and to create a business that promotes successful business practices.

2. Get Outside

Take a few moments to enjoy the day. Maybe you would like to spend some time working on your yard, or maybe going for a walk with your family is what brings you joy. Rollerblades are making a serious comeback, so maybe you can dust off a pair and put them to the test. Get outside and spend a few moments to be present and thankful.

3. Up-cycle empty product containers

We know you have plenty of product containers that could be turned Into something beautiful! One of our favorite ways to up-cycle is inspired by our friends at Davines… turn old containers into planters! This is a family-friendly craft that you could do today! Replant an old succulent, or pick one up from a local nursery on your next trip to the grocery store!

Simply wash out your container, add a few drain holes to the bottom, then add a few rocks to the bottom, then soil and your plant!

One of our Salon Partners (Shawn Paul Salon) Made a great video demonstration about this, you can see that HERE.

4. The neighborly clean up

As you talk a walk in your local area, grab a pair of gloves and a bag to take with you. Clean up as you go, this might not be the most glamorous way to spend your day but it IS an important way to keep your neighborhood clean!
